Jonbrecy Kennels
Where Quality and Soundness are the Rule!
We are dedicated to producing quality, healthy animals, who's parents and background have passed the tests of time and genetics. Our ideal buyer is one who recognizes the quality of the dogs and the effort put into insuring the health and welfare of all Jonbrecy puppies. Naturally, we would like to see the "show quality" puppies in "show homes", but the first requirement is that they will be much loved family "pets", sharing every aspect of their owner's lives.
Chinese Cresteds are extremely unusual and unique to look at, and reputable breeders of are extremely fearful that they will suddenly become very popular with the general public for all the WRONG reasons. The result of that is that puppy mill and backyard breeders will suddenly become interested in them as a "money makers". The public will spend thousands of dollars to buy dogs without proper education and knowledge about them (they have some drawbacks one must be willing to live with) and the majority of those puppies will end up in pounds/ humane societies, and rescue to be re-homed after spaying and neutering at the expense of those volunteer organizations, IF THEY ARE LUCKY. If they are unlucky, they will have been born/destined for a life of abuse, neglect, ill health, and/or death from a hundred different causes.
If you think you have a sincere interest in this Breed, read everything you can put your hands on, both good and bad, about these dogs. Find out, FIRST, what you might be getting into. And, then, if you are still determined to own one of them, buy from a reputable breeder who invests time, effort and money into genetic testing, produces a healthy, happy example of the Breed, and is willing to back it up with a written contract/guarantee.
Please read the articles on this web site regarding Rescue, Pet Shop Puppies, General Information about these Breeds and their Breed Standards.
